In the Agadez region, the illiteracy rate among women is one of the highest in the world. Functional literacy training, taught in the local language—Tamasheq in this case—is therefore essential to help women gain independence and develop small economic activities.

These literacy projects are funded as part of our initiatives to support women’s empowerment. Conducted by certified trainers, the sessions are held daily for six months, either in existing centers or in schools after the children have gone home.

A second session is currently underway in eight centers across the region, and the initial results are encouraging! The women are engaged and eager to learn. Bravo to them!
