Wells
eleven new community wells in the Agadez region
Published on2/7/2024
Thanks to a network of loyal partners, we have successfully completed the construction of eleven new community wells in the Agadez region.
Essential for the survival of nomads and their herds, these wells replace the dangerous traditional ones. Made of cement, each well includes three discharge basins and three circular watering troughs, enabling multiple herds to drink simultaneously. Water is drawn using animal traction.
Located far from villages, these wells are built in the heart of the desert along the routes traveled by nomads, who set up their camps nearby. Today, 130 pastoral wells provide water for several hundred thousand animals each year, sustaining an income-generating activity.
