ACCESS TO EDUCATION: UPDATES ON FIVE OF OUR STUDENTS

For several years, "Les Puits du Désert" has been providing financial assistance to outstanding high school and university students who lack the means to pursue their studies. This support is offered through annual scholarships or sponsorships. Once graduated, these students enter the workforce and become self-sufficient.

Here are updates on five of them:

- Aïssa, sponsored since the beginning of her medical studies, is now in her 8th year and is set to defend her doctoral thesis in 2025. A brilliant student, she plans to specialize in pediatric surgery afterward.

- Azara, after completing her primary and secondary education in Niamey, is now in her second year at ADU (African Development Universalis), a bilingual (French and English) institution founded in 2017 in Niamey.

- Ibrahim, supported by "Les Puits du Désert" since middle school, is now a 30-year-old AI consultant and entrepreneur in Paris.

"Thanks to Les Puits du Désert, I received the support needed to study under the best conditions until I landed my first job."

- Issouf, 27, pursued his education at the University of Lorraine and earned a Master's degree. He is currently employed by Orano as an engineer.

- Assalah, one of the first students supported by "Les Puits du Désert", graduated from the École Polytechnique de Sousse and now works as a civil engineer in Agadez. He contributes to rural development and financing agricultural sectors in Niger.

Since the association's inception in 2004, we have sponsored 180 young individuals. We take immense pride in celebrating all these students—now engineers, doctors, midwives, and nurses. Most of them studied abroad before returning to Niger to help develop their country and inspire younger generations to pursue higher education.

As Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." This belief is our conviction and priority.

Wishing everyone a successful 2024 academic year. You are the future and the hope of your community.
