World Water Day 2024 in Bordeaux
On World Water Day, Armelle de Roton, Director of our association "Les Puits du Désert", took part in a conference on water management and access, in response to an invitation from Bordeaux Métropole.
She was joined by Sylvie Cassou-Schotte, President of Bordeaux Métropole’s Water Utility, Céline Papin, Vice-President of Bordeaux Métropole in charge of territorial balance, and Christophe Defeuilley, economist and lecturer at the Urban School of Sciences-Po Paris.
During the event, centered around the film "Main basse sur l’eau", Armelle presented the activities of our association in the field of water access, particularly those funded by Bordeaux Métropole, such as the creation of five community wells in 2023.
It was a captivating exchange on the privatization of water— the new blue gold— and water management in France. It was emphasized that water cannot be treated as a mere consumer product, but rather as a common good of humanity.
A big thank you to our partner for giving us the chance to voice the concerns of our friends in the desert!
